MCA Synthesis Technology

Jihua Group Fine Chemical Technology Center has recently
developed the technology for the nitrogen-based flame
retardant-MCA synthesis and passed the appraisal sponsored by
CNPC. Owing to its advantages of no halogen content, low toxicity,
low smoke generation, heat and light stability, environmental
friendliness, high flame-retarding effect and low price, MCA is
a reliable substitute for bromine flame-retarding agents
   In spite of the good flame-retarding effect, halogen
flame-retarding agents generate a great deal of smoke and
produce toxic gases in combustion to cause secondary pollution.
Jihua Group and Jilin University jointly constructed a 100 t/a
MCA pilot unit, determined the best process conditions and
produced qualified product. The use of MCA in the 400 t/a
flame-retarding nylon production line in Daqing has proved that
the product quality fully meets the requirements and the
flame-retarding effect can reach UL94V-0. Flame-retarding nylon
produced is proved by authoritative departments to be qualified.
   The project has optimized process parameters and features
simple process flow, high product yield and little wastes
emission. There are no waste gases and no waste residues. Only
small amounts of waste water are generated. The COD value
conforms to the emission standard and holds a leading level in
China. Besides, the basic design of a 1 000 t/a MCA commercial
unit has already been completed. The research achievement made
by Jihua Group is applying for invention patent of the state.
