Accident PageOutbreak in BASF TDI PlantOn June 18th, 2007 phosgene leakage happened in the TDI Plant with a capacity for 160 000 t/a of Shanghai BASF Polyurethane Co., Ltd. located at Shanghai Chemical Industry Park. The plant has been shut up today. According to the company, no people were injured in the accident. When the plant will resume to operation and whether the accident caused any malignant effect to the local environment are still unknown now.    The TDI plant was started in August 2006 but it had been in the intermittent operation until February 2007. The plant was originally planned to be shut up for repair in the second quarter of 2007, which was not put into practice. Phosgene is a kind of toxic gas that can even result in people's death.Fire in Hubei Xianlong Chemical On June 14th, 2007 No. 2 workshop of Hubei Xianlong Chemical Co., Ltd. caught fire. The company located in Xiantao, Hubei province. No people were injured in the accident. Little amount of poisonous chemical flew into Han River so that water supply of the local people was affected.  Hubei Xianlong Chemical Co., Ltd. mainly produces insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and intermediates for pharmaceutical, pesticides, rubber, dyes and pigments.
