Harbin Petrochemical Launches Maleic Anhydride Expansion
Project

The 20 000 t/a maleic anhydride expansion project in China
Bluestar Harbin Petrochemical Corporation (Harbin
Petrochemical) was recently started construction. The framework
foundation for main equipment in 14 major units and the
foundation for reactors are already fully completed.
    It is another major project in the company after the start
of the 120 000 t/a phenol/acetone project. The project has a
planned investment of RMB88.4 million and will be completed and
put on stream in November 2007. Through a lot of improvements
made to the process technology, the company will acquire a maleic
anhydride capacity of 22 500 t/a at that time.
