Explosion in Hesheng Chemical  

On May 21st, 2007 Zhejiang Hesheng Chemical Company Ltd.
(Hesheng Chemical) got exploded and caught fire in Jiaxing Port
Area, Zhejiang province. The accident caused no injury.
   According to a person in the know, a water pyrolysis unit was
conducting trial production at a production workshop when the
vacuum degree of the water pyrolysis vessel fell so that the
temperature rose sharply, exceeded the limit value and finally
caused the accident.

Explosion in Nanjing Port Co., Ltd.

On May 17th, 2007 a naphthalene store tank with the content of
1 300 tons got exploded in Nanjing Port Co., Ltd. located in
Yizheng Port Area, Yangzhou, Jiangsu province. Two people died
in the accident. They were doing some repairing work on the top
of the tank, in which there was over 300 tons of naphthalene when
the accident happened.
   Naphthalene is a flammable poisonous chemical and can burns
out when it explodes. Because of the timely rescue, only a part
of naphthalene caught fire and burnt out. Thanks to the measures
made by the company, no pollution has been caused to the local
water body.
   Nanjing Port Co., Ltd. is an important port transportation
enterprise for transit and store of petroleum and liquid
chemical products in China.

Fire in Shenzhou Xinxing Chemical Plant

On May 13th, 2007 Shenzhou Xinxing Chemical plant got exploded
and caught fire in Donganzhuang town, Shenzhou, Hebei province.
No people injured in the accident.
   This chemical plant makes use of paraffin and chlorine to
manufacture chlorinated paraffin and aluminium oxide. The fire
was caused by the reaction of paraffin and chlorine in the
reaction kettle. It is released that worker's operation contrary
to instructions and the aging of the equipment maybe resulted
in the accident.

Explosion in Changzhou Jieyu
On May 12th, 2007 explosion took place in Changzhou Jieyu Plastic
Cement Co., Ltd. (Changzhou Jieyu) located in Changzhou, Jiangsu
province. Workers were cutting baking oven pipeline at the PVC
foaming workshop when the accident happened with the workshop
collapsed. The explosion accident caused 5 death and 2 injuries.
