Sanxing Group Kicks off Polylactic Acid Project

Shandong Sanxing Group Company Ltd. recently started
construction on a 20 000 t/a polylactic acid project in Zouping
County, Binzhou, Shandong province. The production is planned
to be started in March 2008.
   The project uses the domestic advanced production process and
will have an investment of RMB370 million. Starch is used as raw
material to produce high-quality lactic acid through enzymatic
treatment and microbial fermentation. Biodegradable polylactic
acid is then produced through polymerization. Waste water
generated in the production can be fully reused. Waste residues
generated in the production can be used to make organic manures
after treatment.
   Polylactic acid is also called corn plastics. It is a new
biological material developed in recent years. It has excellent
biodegradability, good mechanical property and great
compatibility.
