Shengxiong Energy Constructs Polycrystalline Silicon Project

On April 2nd, 2007 Xinjiang Shengxiong Energy Development Co.,
Ltd. (Shengxiong Energy) started construction of the 500 000 t/a
metal silicon and 10 000 t/a polycrystalline silicon project in
Tuokexun Energy Heavy Chemical Industry Park, Turpan, Xinjiang.
The 500 000 t/a metal silicon project will be executed into 2
phases. In the first phase, an investment of RMB600 million will
be used to construct a 200 000 t/a metal silicon project, which
is going to be completed in October 2007. The second phase will
include a 300 000 t/a metal silicon project with an investment
of RMB700 million. Construction on the second phase is planned
to be started in 2008.
The 10 000 t/a polycrystalline silicon project with a total
investment of RMB4 billion will be executed into 3 phases. The
first phase with a capacity of 3 000 t/a is expected to be started
in 2008 and be completed in 2009. The second phase with the same
capacity is expected to be started in 2010. The third phase with
a capacity of 4 000 t/a is expected to be started in 2011.
After completion of the whole project, Tuokexun Energy Heavy
Chemical Industry Park is expected to become a leading
industrial silicon production base in China.
