Dyneon Introduces FPO 3741 Fluoroelastomer

Dyneon, one of the world's leading fluoropolymer suppliers,
recently introduced a fluoroelastomer for biodiesel
applications. Testing confirms that DyneonTM FPO 3741
Fluoroelastomer has excellent chemical resistance to
rapeseed-oil methyl ester (RME) biodiesel fuel, which is
commonly used in Europe.
"This first product in Dyneon's new family of peroxide (PO)
curable fluoroelastomers demonstrates value when exposed to
biodiesel fuels at the high operating temperatures encountered
in under-hood diesel engine applications," says Dyneon
Transportation Marketing Manager Joe Bommarito.
Bommarito further explains that Dyneon's new PO curable
fluoroelastomer technology balances the crucial physical
properties required for fuel compatibility with good
processability. "In addition to excellent biodiesel resistance
at high temperatures, Dyneon FPO 3741 exhibits good permeation
resistance, a property that is expected of high-fluorine
fluoroelastomers when exposed to today’s gasoline/alcohol fuel
blends."
