FCFC Starts up 600 000 T/A Styrene Unit

Formosa Chemicals & Fiber Corporation (FCFC) of Taiwan province
recently put the newly built 600 000 t/a styrene unit on stream
in the 2nd Petrochemicals Division located in Taiwan province.
It is originally planned to be put on stream at the end of 2006.
Because the newly built cracking unit was postpone to be put on
stream, construction on the styrene unit made according delay.
Nowadays, the third cracking unit is expected to be started at
the end of April or in early May 2007.
   The operating rate of the 600 000 t/a styrene unit has reached
70% today. Another 250 000 t/a styrene unit in FCFC discontinued
production, which is maybe related to the limited raw material
supply and the third cracking unit being not started production.
