Jilin Chemical Fiber Starts up Acrylic Fiber Project

On March 18th, 2007 Jilin Chemical Fiber Group held a celebration ceremony for the first-phase of its 100 thousand t/a acrylic fiber project in Changchun, Jilin province, which suggests the project was commercially put into production in Jilin city, Jilin province.   Jilin Qifeng Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. and Monte Corporation of Italy jointly established the 300 000 t/a acrylic fiber project that includes two phases with a total investment of RMB1.77 billion, both parties holding 50% share. Jilin Qifeng Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. is a holding subsidiary of Jilin Chemical Fiber Group Co., Ltd.    This first-phase 100 thousand t/a acrylic fiber project has been conducted trial run on October 22nd, 2006. Up to now, two polymerization production lines and 7 spinning production lines each with an acrylic fiber capacity of 15 000 t/a have been started in the first phase. Some related and public facilities for the second phase have also been constructed. An investment of more than RMB1 billion has been spent.   As a global well-known acrylic fiber manufacturer, Monte Corporation has kept technological cooperation with Jilin Chemical Fiber Group for nearly 20 years. On December 6th, 2005 the two parties signed an agreement to establish a JV, Jilin Jimeng Acrylic Fiber Co., Ltd. to undertake the sales of acrylic fiber products in the worldwide market with Jilin Qifeng Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. and Monte Corporation. The sales center jointly established by the three parties was put into formal operation on January 1st, 2007.
