Hechang Chemical Invests in High-grade Anhydrous Sodium Sulfate

On March 1st, 2007 the 250 000 t/a high-quality anhydrous sodium
sulfate project in Hechang (Guangxi, in Chinese phonetic
alphabet) Chemical Co., Ltd. conducted ignition in Taoyu Town,
Heng county, Nanning, Guangxi province.
   Construction on the project was started in February 2004. It
is constructed to make the development of glauberite resources
in Taoyu. After the completion of the project, 250 000-300 000
tons of high-grade anhydrous sodium sulfate can be produced a
year and more than 70% of the product will be used for export.
   Hechang (Guangxi) Chemical Co., Ltd., established in October
2003, is the third wholly owned company funded by Hong Kong
Hechang Group Chemical Co., Ltd. in China. Major products
include anhydrous sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, detergents,
dyestuffs and soda ash. It is reported that the Hong Kong Hechang
will take the development of glauberite resources in the
Taoyu-Naliang section as the second-phase project. The
second-phase project will have a total investment of RMB150
million to construct a 250 000 t/a high-quality anhydrous sodium
sulfate unit. The investment made by the Hong Kong company in
Heng county will reach RMB300 million at that time and the output
will reach 800 000 tons a year.
