Biodegradable Packaging Material Project in Donghua

The starch-based biodegradable packaging material project of
Hebei Dongguang Donghua Co., Ltd. was recently completed and put
on stream in Dongguang county, Hebei province. Products are used
to produce many kinds of disposable articles and packaging
materials. The project has a total investment of RMB628 million
and the investment of the first phase is RMB200 million.
Starch-based biodegradable packaging material uses starch of
farm crops such as corn as raw material. It can be processed into
disposable tableware and packaging bags. It can replace
conventional plastic packaging materials and is extensively
used in high-grade disposable tableware and food packaging film.
As such packaging material is produced from corn starch, it is
also called "corn plastics". It can be thoroughly decomposed by
microbes or recycled for the use as organic fertilizer without
any pollution.
The first phase that was already started production has a
capacity of 10 000 t/a. The whole production process is in closed
loop without any bacteria or dust.
