600 000 T/A Soda Ash Project Kicks off

On December 12th, 2006 the construction was started on the 600
000 t/a soda ash project in Wanzhou District, Chongqing in
southwestern China. With a total investment of RMB1.2 billion,
the project is owned by Dajiang Compound Fertilizer Co., Ltd.,
a subsidiary of Hubei Yihua Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (SZ:
000422) The project uses combined-soda process (Hou's Process)
to manufacture soda ash and ammonium chloride. It is planned to
formally put on stream in October 2007. After completion, the
project will help the company increase its sales revenue by
RMB1.5 billion per year.
   It is released that after acquiring Chongqing Sote Salt &
Chemical Co., Ltd., Dajiang Compound Fertilizer Co., Ltd. has
been focused on salt chemical industry to develop downstream
products with raw material by 1 million t/a vacuum salt
production. Dajiang Compound Fertilizer Co., Ltd. plans to
construct a 400 000 t/a synthetic ammonia project, a 1.2 million
t/a ammonium chloride project, a 1 million t/a caustic soda and
a 1 million t/a plastic pipeline project.
