KPC Polyether Plant Starts up in Nanjing

KPC (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. funded by Polyol Company Ltd. of Korea
(KPC) recently put on stream in Nanjing Chemical Industry Park,
Jiangsu province. The first phase of the project includes a 30
000 t/a polyether polyol unit and a 30 000 t/a conjugate
polyether unit. The final capacity of the project will be 150
000 t/a polyether polyol. Products are mainly used in automobile,
household electric appliance and construction sectors.
   The company started normal production on December 4th, 2006.
The operating rate is 100%. The product quality has reached
specifications and product sales have already started. Covering
an area of 48 800 m2, the construction of the plant can help
extend the polyurethane industrial chain of the company.
Investors include Polyol Company Ltd. of Korea, Samsung of Korea,
Toyota Tsusho of Japan and Sanyo Chemical of Japan.
   The basic product in KPC (Nanjing) is polyether polyol. The
capacity is 30 000 t/a in 2006 and will be expanded to 50 000
t/a in 2008 and 100 000 t/a in 2010.
