Baling Completes Fertilizer Renovation Project

The fertilizer renovation project in Sinopec Baling
Petrochemical Co., Ltd. was conducted successfully wet
commissioning in Yueyang of Hunan province on December 19th,
2006. The coal gasification unit funded by Sinopec and Royal
Dutch Shell on a 50-50 basis uses advanced technologies in the
world and can process 2 000 tons of coal per day.
   In addition, the chemical fertilizer unit in the company was
introduced from Netherlands in the 1970s. The major raw material
was naphtha. The completion of the project will enable the
chemical fertilizer unit to acquire a capacity of 600 000 t/a.
The urea production cost can be greatly reduced and low-price
raw materials can also be provided for the production of chemical
products such as caprolactam.
