Xylene Leakage in Hengnan Huasen  
On November 13th, 2006 xylene leakage happened in Hengnan Huasen
Industrial Co., Ltd. located in Chejiang town, Hengnan County,
Hunan province. The amount of xylene leakage is over 1 ton. With
rainfall, xylene flowed into 2 countries nearby. This company
has been forced to shut up today.
    According to survey of the local environmental protection
department, the accident was caused by the careless operation
of a worker who forgot to turn off the water filtration valve.
But thanks to effective measures taken by Hengyang Municipal
Environmental Protection Bureau to prevent xylene further
flowing into the affluent of Xiangjiang River, dangerous
situation has been under control today. Main products in the
company include pure benzene, toluene and xylene.

Sulfuryl Chloride Leakage in Shaanxi   
On November 24th, 2006 sulfuryl chloride leakage happened on a
steel tank in Shaanxi Hengtian Chemicals Co., Ltd. located in
Dali County, Weinan, Shaanxi province. Forty workers in Hentian
Chemicals Co., Ltd. and the neighboring company got poisoned in
the accident.
    According to the investigation, the tank with 300 kilograms
of sulfuryl chloride suddenly broke when 2 workers removed it.
Main products in the company include pesticides, sterilizing
agents and herbicides.
