Dow Introduces High Purity CANGUAR ULTRA BIT Products

Dow Biocides, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, is
introducing CANGUARDTM ULTRA BIT Paste, a broad spectrum
bactericide used for the protection of industrial water-based
paints and coatings against bacteria, fungi and yeasts to its
product portfolio. Initially launched to the Chinese market,
CANGUARD ULTRA BIT Paste is a highly pure, solid form of BIT (1,
2-benzisothiazolin-3-one) that can be used to prepare
additional grades of solutions or aqueous suspensions of BIT.
Based on the widely-used BIT technology, CANGUARD ULTRA BIT
Paste is a long-lasting, non-formaldehyde based biocide that can
be used under a broad range of pH and temperature conditions.
It is often used at higher temperatures and under very alkaline
conditions, where other preservatives are often ineffective.
CANGUARD ULTRA BIT Paste is useful for the preservation of
polymer latexes and emulsion systems, water-based paints,
coatings, adhesives, oil-in-water emulsions, and for bacterial
control in the paper-making process.
The first two products to be formulated from CANGUARD ULTRA
BIT Paste are CANGUARDTM ULTRA BIT 10 and CANGUARDTM ULTRA BIT
20 DPG Antimicrobial. As glycol-based solutions of the paste,
they offer similar product attributes, with the added benefit
of miscible solubility in water and oil.
