Explosion in Gansu Yinguang    
On December 27th, 2006 an explosion took place at the acetone
solvent distillation recovery workshop in the Third Chemical
Plant of Gansu Yinguang Chemical Industrial Co., Ltd. (Gansu
Yinguang) located in Baiyin, Gansu province. The explosion
accident caused 3 death and 2 injuries with the majority of
workshop collapsed.
    Workers were conducting overhaul on the acetone recovery
system when the acetone solvent recovery tank suddenly exploded.
It is released that Gansu Yinguang has stopped production for
complete overhaul. No specific reason for the accident is
released yet. Because the company has to buy new facility for
restoring production, the date hasn't been fixed. On December
15th, Gansu Yinguang conducted successfully trial run on its
first phase of the 100 000 t/a TDI (toluene diisocynate)
expansion project.(see P13 this issue)

Fire in Linquan Fertilizer Plant
On December 23rd, 2006 a compressor pipeline got explosion and
caught fire in Linquan Chemical Fertilizer Plant in Linquan
county, Anhui province. The accident didn抰 cause any injury
or environmental pollution.

Fire in Hangzhou Chemical Reagent Plant
On December 12th, 2006 a chlorophyll workshop caught fire in
Hangzhou Chemical Reagent Plant located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang
province. There is a reactor containing around 1 ton of methanol
and ethyl ether in that workshop when the accident happened. No
one injured in the accident.

Explosion in Xianfeng Fine Chemical
On December 13th, 2006 an explosion broke out at a tank in
Xianfeng Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. in Siyang county, Sichuan
province. The accident caused 2 injuries. According to a person
in the know, the machine's trouble may result in the explosion.
