Nanometer Calcium Carbonate Production Line Puts on Stream

The 100 000 t/a nanometer calcium carbonate production line
constructed by Shandong Shengda Science and Technology Co., Ltd.
(SSTC) put on stream on October 20th, 2006 in Haize Industry Park,
Xianyang, Shaanxi province.
   The first phase of the project has an investment of RMB900
million. The company is also planning to launch the second phase.
The second phase will have a capacity of 60 000 t/a nanometer
calcium carbonate and production will start in 2007. The company
will have a capacity of 160 000 t/a nanometer calcium carbonate
at that time.
   SSTC and Tsinghua University have jointly developed the
technology for the production of nanometer calcium carbonate in
membrane dispersing micro structural reactors. Nanometer
calcium carbonate produced with the process has stable quality
and can be extensively used in tire, rubber, plastic and ink
sectors.
   Xianyang has rich limestone resources with a calcium
carbonate content of over 96.7% and a calcium oxide content of
over 55%.
