O-Methyl Phenolic Epoxy Resin Puts on Stream in JJCIC

The first-phase of o-methyl phenolic epoxy resin project with
an initial capacity of 5000 t/a in Jiangshan Jianghuan Chemical
Industry Co., Ltd. (JJCIC) recently put on stream in Jiangshan,
Zhejiang province. A ceremony for the completion of the first
phase was held on October 10th, 2006. It is expected that the
output will reach 6 500 tons in 2007 and 11 000 tons in 2008.
   The total capacity of epoxy resin in China is nearly 500 000
t/a today. Most producers however mainly produce conventional
varieties. There is almost no commercial production of varieties
for high-tech copper-clad plates.
   Zhejiang Jiangshan Chemical Co., Ltd. holds 72% equity in
JJCIC. The capacity of the first-phase epoxy resin project is
10 000 t/a. A quarter of epoxy resin produced in the project is
o-methyl phenolic variety and three quarters are varieties for
copper-clad plates. Besides, JJCIC also plans to launch the 50
000 t/a second-phase epoxy resin project in Ningbo to further
expand its epoxy resin production scale.
