Dispersion Polymerization of Acrylonitrile in Supercritical CO2

The project for the "dispersion polymerization of acrylonitrile
in green solvent supercritical CO2" jointly completed by Sinopec
Anqing Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (Anqing Petrochemical) and East
China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) recently
passed the evaluation of the experts' committee organized by
Sinopec Group. The project has bridged a gap in acrylic fiber
polymerization processes in China. The technology has applied
for two invention patents of the state.
It is a research project of Sinopec Group. Researchers from
Anqing Petrochemical and ECUST have used the atom transfer
radical polymerization technology (ATRP) and successfully
developed two categories of fluorine-containing block polymers.
Such polymers can be used as high-effect stabilizers for the
dispersion polymerization of acrylonitrile in supercritical CO2.
The process for the synthesis of polyacrylonitrile and
polyacrylonitrile/vinyl acetate copolymer in supercritical CO2
developed in the project can effectively break the bounds of
traditional production processes.
