Poison Gas Leakage in Nanjing Shuguang   
On August 22nd, 2006, poison gas leakage happened at a horizontal
trichlorosilane reactor in Nanjing Shuguang Lehvoss Silane Co.,
Ltd. located in Yuhuatai District of Nanjing, Jiangsu province.
The reactor got burnt with chemical gas blowout. Most of the
facilities in the factory building have been destroyed but no
injury happened. There is 4 tons of material in the reactor.
    Established in 2002, Nanjing Shuguang Lehvoss Silane Co.,
Ltd. is a joint venture between Nanjing Shuguang Chemical Co.,
Ltd. and Lehmann & Voss Corporation of Germany. The company
mainly manufactures silane coupling agent and
chloropropylsilane.
   
Titanium Tetrachloride Leakage in Guangzhou
On August 18th, 2006, titanium tetrachloride leakage happened
in Guangzhou Chemical Industrial Group Titanium Oxide Factory
in Guangdong province. The accident was caused by the worker's
wrong operation during removing the titanium tetrachloride
container and the factory has stopped production now.

Chlorine Leakage in Nanjing Chemical Plant
On August 16th, 2006, chlorine leakage happened in Sinopec
Nanjing Chemical Plant in Jiangsu province. Due to power cut in
the company, some facilities can't operate normally so that a
small amount of chlorine leaked out during collection process.
Nanjing Chemical Plant mainly produces organic intermediates,
rubber assistants.

Fire in Changzhou Yabang Chemical  
On August 23rd, 2006, a fire broke out in the benzene tank zone
of the anthraquinone department in the Second Branch Factory of
Changzhou Yabang Chemical Co., Ltd. located in Wujin District
of Changzhou, Jiangsu province. There are five benzene tanks in
the zone. Because of the worker's careless operation, waste
benzene material was lit up so that around 40 tons of benzene
in those 5 tanks caught big fire. The accident didn't cause any
injury or serious water pollution.
    It is released that the company concentrates on
manufacturing coatings and pigments, etc.

Explosion in Jinling Petrochemical Fertilizer Plant
On August 21st, 2006, a fire broke out in Sinopec Jinling
Petrochemical Co., Ltd.  Fertilizer Plant located in Qixia
District of Nanjing, Jiangsu province. It is released that the
accident was caused by the flammable gas leakage on the pipeline
flange of the coal-water slurry gasifier B under high
temperature in the plant.
   According to the preliminary investigation, no gas or water
pollution happened. With a total investment of over RMB300
million, this coal water slurry unit completed for less than one
year.

Explosion in Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical
On August 10th, 2006, explosion and combustion happened on the
nitration reactor in Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical Group Pesticide
Branch in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province. But the accident caused
no injury. It is released that the company mainly manufactures
pyrethroids, pesticide series and basic chemicals.

Chemical Pollution in Songhua River
Chemical pollution accident recently happened in Mangniu River
of Songhua River branch located in Jilin city, Jilin province.
After the emergency measures taken by the local government, the
accident was under control today. Water quality in the relevant
region meets the environmental protection standard and no
pollutant has been found today.
   It is released that on August 21st, 2006 the Environmental
Protection Bureau of Jilin City received public report that red
waste water was flowing to Mangniu River. According to the
investigation, around 5 kilometers of pollution belt was formed
with dimethylaniline as the major pollutant. The cause of the
accident has been checked out that Jilin Changbai Mountain Fine
Chemicals Co., Ltd. recklessly discharged chemical waste water
into Mangniu River.
