DMF-Process Butadiene Extraction Technology


The 100 000 t/a DMF-process butadiene extraction unit recently
conducted wet commissioning and produced qualified products in
Maoming Petrochemical Company Ltd. (MPC) in Guangdong province
The success has made the large-scale production of industrial
rubbers possible in China.
   The unit has an investment of RMB120 million and is one of
the major units in the 1.0 million t/a ethylene renovation
project in the company. Sinopec Engineering Incorporation (SEI)
provides process package and basic design.
   The 90 000 t/a NMP-process butadiene unit constructed in
Shanghai Secco Petrochemical Co., Ltd. with SEI as the general
contractor conducted successful wet commissioning in March 2005.
The DMF-process technology developed by SEI was used for the
first time in the first 50 000 t/a butadiene unit in MPC in the
1990s. The unit put on stream this time is the second unit. The
total capacity of the two units has reached 150 000 t/a. The
technology has overcome the scale enlargement effect and also
readjusted and optimized the process flow in the original design
to further reduce energy consumption.
