Honeywell Introduces First Solar Energy Water Heater

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced on July 27th, 2006 that Shandong
Linuo Paradigma Co., Ltd, one of the largest solar energy water
heater manufacturers in China, will use Honeywell's Enovate (R)
blowing agent to improve the performance of foam insulation. It
marks the first such application of Enovate.
Honeywell Enovate is a non ozone-depleting hydrofluorocarbon
that allows rigid, closed-cell insulation to expand. The liquid
blowing agent stays resident and provides superior insulating
properties. Researchers from both Honeywell and Linuo Paradigma
jointly developed this latest Enovate application as the
phaseout of ozone-depleting substances such as CFCs continues
worldwide. The phaseout is driven by the Montreal Protocol on
Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
Currently, most Chinese solar energy equipment manufacturers
use CFCs as a blowing agent. China will cease production of CFC
substances beginning July 1st, 2007, according to the State
Environment Protection Administration of China.
