Dry Coal Powder Pressure Gasification Technology

The project of "dry coal powder pressure gasification
technology" undertaken by Xi'an Thermal Power Research
Institute Co., Ltd. (TPRI) controlled by China Huaneng Group has
recently passed the appraisal organized by the Ministry of
Science and Technology.
   It is a core technology for IGCC, coal-to-oil, coal chemical
and multiple co-production systems in the "green coal-based
power generation" project.
   In the execution of the project, Xi'an TPRI has developed and
mastered the gasification process and also methods for the
design, manufacturing, installation and debugging of key
equipment and control systems. It has completed dry coal powder
pressure gasification tests on typical coal types such as brown
coal, bituminous coal, lean coal and anthracite and conducted
168-hour continuous running in a dry coal powder pressure
gasification unit for the first time in history in China. The
core technology and the overall process for dry coal powder
pressure gasification have already won invention patents of the
state.
   Xi'an TPRI has formulated a plan for the development of 1
000-2 000 t/d two-section dry coal powder pressure fluidized-bed
gasification furnaces and already completed the process design.
The first-phase power generation demonstration project (250MW)
based on coal gasification will start functioning in 2009.
