New Technology for Biomass Oil Refining

The Biomass Clean Energy Lab in the University of Science and
Technology of China recently successfully converted various raw
materials including saw dusts and stalks into bio-oil through
pyrolytic liquefaction and reprocessing. The research
achievement passed the appraisal organized by Anhui Science and
Technology Department. Tests prove that the oil yield of saw
dusts is over 60% and the oil yield of stalks is over 50%.
The burning of stalks causes serious environmental pollution.
This technology can directly convert stalks into bio-oil. The
bio-oil can be directly used as boiler fuel. It can also be used
as vehicle fuel after refining and to extract chemical products
with high added value.
