N-Methylmorpholine Synthesis Technology

The 300 t/a N-methylmorpholine synthesis process technology
jointly completed by the Fine Chemical Technology Center of
Jilin Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Jilin Institute of Chemical
Technology has recently passed the experts' appraisal organized
by CNPC in Beijing.
   N-methylmorpholine is an important fine chemical raw
material. It can be used to synthesize fine chemical products
such as pharmaceuticals and surfactants and also as solvent,
extracting agent and polyurethane coating curing agent. Its most
important application in future will be the synthesis of
N-methyloxymropholine.
   Jilin Petrochemical Co., Ltd. developed the
diglycol-methanol-liquid ammonia process for the
N-methylmorpholine production, constructed a 300 t/a pilot
technology development unit and established the best process
conditions through pilot tests. The purity of
N-methylmorpholine reaches 99.5% and the purity of morpholine
product is higher than 99.8%. The process has little discharge
of wastes and therefore is an environmental friendly technology.
