Complete Technology for O-Cresol Aldehyde Epoxy Resin

The 10 000 t/a o-cresol aldehyde epoxy resin complete technology
process package jointly developed by Hunan Yueyang (Sinopec)
Baling Petrochemical Company Ltd. and the Research Institute of
Petroleum Processing passed the technical evaluation conducted
by Sinopec Group on June 21st, 2006. The complete technology in
the process package is the first of the kind in China.
   On the basis of the 500 t/a o-cresol aldehyde epoxy resin
pilot test and the 2 000 t/a commercial production test,
commercial production process flows, design parameters and key
equipment structures and models for the two major sections of
phenol aldehyde and epoxidation are established through process
optimization and engineering development. The development and
the writing of the 10 000 t/a o-cresol aldehyde epoxy resin
complete technology process package are completed. Products
have stable and reliable quality. The content of organic
chlorine in products is low and application requirements in
electronic cladding materials can be satisfied.
   As products cured by o-cresol aldehyde epoxy resin have
excellent thermal stability, mechanical strength, insulation,
heat resistance and chemical resistance, o-cresol aldehyde
epoxy resin is extensively used in electronic, communication and
information sectors. Hunan Yueyang Baling Petrochemical Company
Ltd. started to produce o-cresol aldehyde epoxy resin from the
1990s and the capacity has already reached 2 000 t/a today.
