Dow's New Glycol Ethers Series Products

DOWANOLTM PM glycol ethers are produced by reacting propylene
oxide with methanol, making this investment to support the
continued growth of flat panel displays - LCDs, TVs, PDAs,
laptops, etc - as well as a number of other applications,
including photoresist formulations, photoresist stripping for
precision etching, edge bead removal and cleaning. These
products are also used to help film formation and as coalescing
aids in a number of paint and coatings applications, including
automotive topcoats and refinishes, architectural coatings,
etc.
On April 19th, 2006, Dow announced that it would proceed with
production of a new propylene oxide-based glycol ethers facility
at Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province. (CCR 2006, No.13) Later, on
May 31st DOW signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the
Administrative Committee of Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone in
Jiangsu province. (CCR 2006, No.17) The products manufactured
at the new facility, DOWANOL PM glycol ethers, will help
customers meet stringent environmental requirements for low-VOC,
non-HAPS products.
In the glycol ether field, Dow possesses the world's largest
propylene oxide (PO) capacity as raw materials for glycol ethers.
Dow also has the global reach for propylene glycol mono-methyl
ether (PM) supply and supply chain capability, global TS&D
supports, full range of products (E series, P series, and
specialty glycol ethers).
