Successful Research of the Fused Sodium Carbonate Recovery Unit

The Institute of Mechanics CAS and Hunan Yueyang Baling
Petrochemical Company Ltd. have jointly conducted successful
research of the fused sodium carbonate recovery unit. Not only
the problem of environmental pollution is solved, the recovery
of spent alkali liquor can also increase the economic returns
by RMB3.0 million a year.
   The unit uses the method of fluid mechanics. Before its
contact with other substances, fused sodium carbonate is crushed
by gas/water flow to render it into a state of low corrosion and
low temperature. Sodium carbonate is then taken back to the
recovery equipment for recovery. The purity of spend alkali
liquor recovered can reach more than 80%. It can be used in
papermaking and construction glue sectors and the reuse of spent
alkali liquor can therefore be achieved.
   The unit has made a stable running for 4 months since the
commencement of 2006. The selling price of spent alkali liquor
recovered is around RMB300 per ton. Based on 10 000 tons of spent
alkali liquor discharged a year, the economic returns can be
increased by RMB3.0 million and the pollution to water systems
can also be greatly reduced.
