Explosion in Yongkang Grease Chemical Company in Hubei

On June 7th, 2006, an explosion broke out in Yongkang Grease Chemical Co., Ltd. in Tuoshi town located in Tianmen, Hubei province. Two workers lost their lives.
     The preliminary investigation showed that the accident was caused by the careless operation of the workers when they were doing welding. The oil tank suddenly exploded after being heated and resulted in the leakage of 100 tons of colza oil. It is released that the company can dispose 600 tons of colza oil material with the grease capacity being 250 tons per day.

Liquid Ammonia Leakage in Hebei

The top valve of a liquid ammonia tank with 6 tons of liquid ammonia inside, located in the liquid ammonia tank farm of Xinji Chemical Group Chemical Fertilizer Co., Ltd. in Hebei province, had a sudden rupture on May 31st, 2006. The leakage of liquid ammonia caused poisoning or poisoning symptoms to 5 workers in the company and several dozen workers in a nearby packing material plant. The damaged valve was repaired and the leakage was controlled at noon. Twenty-one victims were sent to hospital. One of them has died and the other 20 are still under rescue.

Chlorine Leakage in Zhejiang

On June 3rd, 2006 chlorine leakage happened at Jiahua Chemicals Corporation Chlor-Alkali Plant in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province. According to the preliminary investigation, the cause of the accident is the aging of the pipeline with some leakage points on the interface.
     One person got first aid for taking in chlorine. No further information was disclosed. The major products in Jiahua Chemicals Corporation are epoxy, pesticide chemicals, organic chemicals and chlor-alkali series products.
