The project for the research on the synthesis process of new high-effect green biocide IPBC (3-iodo-2-propynyl-butyl-carbamate) undertaken by Jiangsu Anpon Electrochemical Co., Ltd. recently passed the appraisal of the expert team. According to experts, the product has filled a gap in the domestic production and the technology is innovative and at the leading level in China.   IPBC is a new-generation high-effect green biocide used to control microbes. It has rapid and lasting effect on hazardous bacteria, especially fungi. It can be extensively used in timber corrosion resistance, coatings and daily-use chemicals. The research achievement is jointly completed by Nanjing University and Jiangsu Anpon Electrochemical Co., Ltd. The cold-hot composite photo-gasification reaction, the high-selectivity catalyst for IPBC synthesis and the high-effect iodination reaction of acetyl groups are all innovative technologies. The birth of the product can hopefully remove environmental protection bottlenecks in timber corrosion resistance, coatings and daily-use chemicals and therefore have major implications on the development of the light industry in China.
