Technologies for Clean Automobile Materials and Oil Products

The project for the "development of technologies for clean
automobile materials and oil products", a de-bottlenecking
project of the state during the Tenth Five-year Plan period
(2001-2005), has passed the appraisal of the expert team
organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The project has made remarkable achievements in the reduction
of olefin and sulfur content in gasoline and diesel, the
development of power direct-heating catalytic converters for
gasoline vehicle tail gas and carbon smog collectors for diesel
vehicle tail gas and the research of key technologies for
aluminum alloy welding.
In the reduction of olefin content in gasoline through
catalytic cracking, it is unnecessary to construct gasoline
reforming units for producing gasoline blends, so great
investments are saved. In the development of carbon smog
collectors for diesel vehicle tail gas, silicon carbon material
is developed and clever structural design is used to develop
economical and practical products. Tests show that without the
regeneration of collectors the carbon smog filtration and
removal rate has reached 60%. The use of high vinyl polybutadiene
rubber in tire tread modifiers can solve the problem of anti-skid
loss in the reduction of rolling resistance. In the research of
key technologies for aluminum alloy welding, problems such as
the short service life and the frequent renewal of electrodes
are solved. Besides, the new aluminum alloy self-riveting
technology and the 2.5 million t/a aromatic fiber radial tire
production line are also developed.
