Technology for the Sewage Treatment by Bamboo Carbon

The demonstrative project for "the treatment of urban river sewage by bio-modified bamboo carbon" undertaken by Nanjing Forestry University has recently passed appraisal. In this technology, there is no need to construct any sewage treatment plant. An effective treatment of urban sewage can be achieved merely by putting a certain amount of bio-modified bamboo carbon into the sewage discharge waterway. Bamboo carbon generated at a high temperature of 700℃ is used as microbial carrier. Bamboo carbon that has adsorbed several dozen types of microbes is put into sewage. When sewage is passing through such bio-modified bamboo carbon, the synergistic action by various types of microbes decomposes pollutants into non-hazardous substances such as carbon dioxide and water and makes the water clean. During nearly 10 months since the completion of the sewage treatment demonstrative lab project, outlet water indexes have fully reached national discharge standards.
