Yunnan Promotes New Water Treatment Technology

The catalytic wet oxidation CWO technology recently passed the appraisal of the State Environmental Protection Administration and China Environmental Protection Industry Association, and was defined as the important state level environmental protection application technology. The CWO technology was developed by Yunnan High Technology Environmental Protection Engineering Company (YHTEPEC), a Sino-Japan joint venture, on the basis of the imported technology from Japan.    CWO technology is mainly applied in the waste water treatment of the petrochemical companies that produce acrylic acid, acetate acid, DOP, PTA, methyl methacrylate, ethylene, monoethylene glycol, cyanides, sulfides, etc.    Whole sets of facilities for the technology have been locally manufactured by YHTEPEC. A 30 t/a catalyst production line has been built up to match with the technology, at a well lower cost than imported catalyst. Presently the technology has already applied in the treatment of many kinds of waste water and dangerous waste cyanides, showing advantages of safety, stable, fast and high effect.
Under certain conditions such as temperature and pressure, in the reactor filled with specialty fixed catalyst, organics, ammonia and cyanides and other harmful substances were treated by oxygen into carbon dioxide, nitrogen, water or other harmless materials. It can treat with high concentration of organic waste water that is difficult to be decomposed through biochemistry method. Through one time treatment, the waster water can meet the discharge standards. Compared with the conventional technology, CWO featured with small land needed, high automation rate, easy to operate. It can make use of the heat generated in the oxidation process.
