Natural Gas Well Leakage in Chongqing

A PetroChina-run natural gas well located in Gaoqiao Town of Kaixian in Chongqing city had a leakage accident in the morning of March 25th. Rescue men ignited leaked natural gas at 8:30 a.m.   Immediately after the accident happened, the local government evacuated nearly 5 000 people within 1 000 meters of the well to nearby towns. Some people beyond 1 000 meters also made evacuation themselves. No poisoning was discovered.    According to the General Office of Sichuan Oil Management Bureau, Luojia 2# Well where the leakage happened is located in Team 1 of Xiaoyang Village in Gaoqiao Town of Kaixian. It is at the same well site with Luojia 16H Well where the "December 23rd" super large well blowout took place in 2003 (CCR2004 No.1). The previous accident terminated the political life of CNPC Chairman Ma Fucai at then.
