Research on Nanometer Ceramics with Optical Function Makes New Achievements

The "Research on nanometer ceramic materials with optical function", a technical de-bottlenecking project of the state undertaken by Fujian Institute of the Structure of Matter CAS, has recently passed the acceptance appraisal organized by Fujian Department of Science and Technology.     Through more than two years' research and development, researchers have made a series of innovative achievements in material preparation and processing technology, structural design and control and structure/property relationship, developed 6 new materials and invented 2 new processes. A sound foundation has been laid for the in-depth development of nanometer ceramic materials with optical function.      Researchers in Fujian Institute of the Structure of Matter have used nanometer technology to develop ceramic materials with optical function and excellent performance and conducted research on the performance design, synthesis, structural control and optical function of new materials. The focus is laid on three interrelated material systems including sintered transparent ceramics, fluorine oxide glass ceramics with nanometer structure and borate glass ceramics.
