Leakage in an LPG Station in Guangdong  

LPG leakage happened at an LPG station in Nanpu Village, Shiji Town, Panyu District of Guangzhou, Guangdong province on March 12th, 2006. More than 5 000 residents made emergency evacuation. Leaked gas was effectively controlled. The cause for the accident is under investigation.

LPG Explosion in LiaoningFloorings of the 5th and the 6th levels in No.5 building, the third unit of Baiyang Sub-District, Haizhou Administrative District of Haicheng in Liaoning province collapsed on March 15th, 2006, causing 1 death and 6 injuries.   The field survey made by the municipal safety supervision bureau has proved that the explosion in No.5 building was triggered by LPG leakage. Further investigation into the specific cause is being conducted.

Explosion in a Chemical Fiber Company in NingboThere was an explosion in Ningbo Hongtai Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. located in Beilun District of Ningbo, Zhejiang province on the afternoon of March 21st, 2006. At least 10 workers were wounded. Rescue is being done to 7 of them.

Sulfur Dioxide Leakage in a Sulfuric Acid Plant in HubeiSulfur dioxide leakage took place in Sulfur Acid Plant of Jianli Branch of a chemical company in Jianli county of Hubei province on March 14th, 2006. There was 1 death and more than 20 people had poisoning symptoms.     On the morning of March 14th, the plant had an overhaul to change the sulfur pump. When the production was restarted at 18:00, operators discovered that too much sulfur had been sprayed into the incinerator. The sulfur valve was immediately shut down, but the excess discharge of sulfur dioxide for 15 minutes caused a wide spread of the toxic gas.

Liquid Chlorine Leakage in a Chemical Plant in GuangdongLiquid chlorine leakage happened in a chemical plant in Maoming of Guangdong province on March 6th, 2006. Around 300kg of liquid chlorine was leaked, but the accident caused no casualties.

Explosion in a Chemical Gas Plant in NanjingAn explosion was caused by acetylene leakage in a chemical gas company located in Luhenghai Village of Dachang of Nanjing, Jiangsu province. There were however no casualties. The specific cause for the explosion is under investigation.

Explosion in a University Lab in ShanghaiAn explosion broke out in a lab located in the West Chemical Building of a university in Shanghai on March 15th, 2006. The accident caused no casualties. Further investigation into the specific cause is being conducted.

Explosion and Combustion in a Chemical Plant in ShandongThe explosion and combustion of nitrogen and hydrogen that took place in the chemical fertilizer plant of a chemical company located in Pingyuan County of Dezhou city, Shandong province on March 13th, 2006 caused 2 deaths and more than 10 injuries.   It is reported that the disengagement of No. 6 oil-water separator outlet of the second unit of M40 compressor in No. 3 Workshop from the pipeline caused the accident.

Explosion in a Chemical Fertilizer Warehouse in ShaanxiA sudden explosion broke out in a chemical fertilizer warehouse located in Nanbao Village of Huzhen Town, Chencang District of Baoji city, Shaanxi province on March 12th, 2006. The explosion induced a big fire. There were no casualties. The cause for the accident is under investigation.

Pesticide Poisoning in a Sugar Mill in GuangxiSix workers in a sugar mill located in Heng County of Nanning, Guangxi province were poisoned on March 8th, 2006. The accident was caused by the illegal storage of 62 tons of high-toxicity pesticide terbufos whose sale and use has been strictly forbidden. Thanks to timely rescue, wounded workers are already out of hospital.
