Soda AshTechnical Renovation
              Passes Acceptance in Tangshan
The 600 000 t/a low-salt  soda  ash  technical  project  in
Tangshan Sanyou Group has recently passed  the  acceptance
organized by Hebei Economic and Trade Commission.
  Soda ash is seriously in short  demand  in  the  domestic
market. Compared with international standards,   soda  ash
produced in China contains high salt  content.   Low- salt
soda ash is therefore in short supply.  Sanyou  Group  has
made an investment of  29. 9  million  yuan  to  introduce
advanced centrifugal equipment  from  abroad  and  conduct
technical renovation to the existing 60 000 t/a  soda  ash
unit. After the renovation, the content  of  chlorides  in
soda ash can be reduced to less than 0.3%, and the  export
can therefore be expanded.
