Fudao Large Chemical Fertilizer
                 Project Passing Acceptance

Natural Gas  Chemical  Fertilizer  Plant  of  Hainan  Fudao
Chemical Industrial Co., Ltd. passed the acceptance of the
state on Oct. 20.
Fudao large chemical fertilizer project is on of the  major
construction projects of the state during the Eighth  Five
-year Plan period. The total investment is 2.5 billion yuan
. The ammonia production process from ICI  of  Britain  and
the fluidized bed prilling technology from Norsk Hydro  of
Norway, both at the world's leading level, are used in the
project. The  ammonia  unit  is  introduced  from  Chiyoda
Chemical of Japan and the urea  unit  is  introduced  from
Snamprogetti of Italy.
Fudao   large   chemical   fertilizer    project    started
construction on Dec. 28, 1994 and produced qualified macro
granular urea on Oct. 28, 1996. Two years' trial production
has proved that the two units have reliable processes  and
remarkable economic benefits. A total of  841. 78  million
yuan loan principal and interest has been repaid since the
start of production.
