Technical Renovation in Tianjin Soda Plant Completed
Tianjin Soda Plant has used a tied loan of 33 mil-lion U.S.
dollars from the Asian Development Bank and  in  nearly  3
years completed the  major  technical  renovation  to  the
existing equipment.
  The plant passed the energy renovation project evaluation
conducted by the Asian Development Bank at the end of 1996
and was approved to use a tied loan of  33  million  U. S.
dollars from the bank. At the same time,  the  plant  also
got a technical renovation loan of 66.32 million yuan from
the Communication Bank of China.
  The renovation was launched on Dec. 18,  1996  and  fully
completed in October this year. The capacity of  argon  is
expanded by 3 600 t/a and  the  capacity  of  methanol  is
expanded by 45 000  t/a.   The  technical  renovation  has
effectively increased the  technical  content  and  market
share of Tianjin Soda Plant .
