Ethylamine Unit in Tianjia Group
                 Completed and Put on Stream
The 3 000 t/a ethylamine  unit  in  Shandong  Zibo  Tianjia
Group Co., Ltd. was completed on  Oct.   16  and  produced
qualified product on Oct.   25.   The  unit  has  a  total
investment of 60 million yuan.
Ethylamine is an intermediate extensively used  to  produce
pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyestuffs and detergents. The
domestic demand of ethylamine is around 30 000 tons,   but
the capacity is only 15 000 - 17 000 t/a.
The 3 000 t/a  ethylamine  project  in  Tianjia  Group  was
approved in March 1997. It uses the  advanced  process  of
ethanol aminolysis. Jilin Research Institute  of  Chemical
Industry of  the  former  Ministry  of  Chemical  Industry
undertook the basic  design,   and  No.   10  Construction
  Company  of  China   Chemical   Engineering   Corporation
undertook the construction and installation.  The  project
was completed in October this year. The key  equipment  is
imported from the United States and Italy. The process  is
controlled by the latest DCS from Honeywell of the  United
States and the special high-efficiency  catalyst  is  from
Engelhard of the United States. The unit can also  produce
  monoethylamine,     diethylamine,     triethylamine   and
monoisopropylamine according to different requirements  of
users.
