150 000 T/A Acetic Acid Unit Completed
                in Sichuan Vinylon Works
The biggest acetic acid unit in China was completed on Oct.
6 in Sichuan Vinylon Works. The unit has a capacity of 150
000 t/a and a total investment of 2.1  billion  yuan.   It
uses  methanol  and  natural  gas  as  raw  materials  and
produces acetic acid by the world advanced Carbon Monoxide
low-pressure oxo process.
  The unit is jointly  funded  by  Sichuan  Vinylon  Works,
Chongqing Construction Investment Co. and BP  of  Britain.
The construction cycle is 25 months and No. 4 Construction
Company of China  Petrochemical  Corporation  and  No.   6
  Construction  Company  of  China   Chemical   Engineering
Corporation are the main contractors.
