Ion Membrane Caustic Soda Project Starts Construction
                in Tianjin Chemical Plant
The    ion    membrane    caustic    soda    project    has
startedconstruction in Tianjin  Chemical  Plant  of  Bohai
Chemical Industrial Group. It is a renovation  project  of
the existing caustic soda unit.
The  plant  used  the  mercury  process  in  caustic   soda
production in the past. The energy consumption  was  high,
the process was outdated and  there  was  serious  mercury
pollution. The ion membrane  caustic  soda  unit  will  be
completed and put on stream at the end of October this year.
The caustic soda capacity of Tianjin Chemical  Plant  will
be increased to 85 000t/a at that time from 58 000 t/a now.
