Chinese-German Joint Venture Neopentyl Glycol
                  Unit Starts Production
The 15 000 t/a neopentyl glycol unit  constructed  by  BASF
-Jihua Neopentyl Glycol Co., Ltd.   of  Jilin  Province  is
completed  and  starts  production.   It  is  the  biggest
neopentyl glycol unit in China.
Neopentyl glycol is mainly used in the production of powder
  coatings,   unsaturated  polyester,    plasticizers   and
pharmaceuticals. The demand of the  product  is  brisk  in
both domestic and international markets.
BASF-Jihua  Neopentyl  Glycol  Co. ,   Ltd.   has  made  an
investment of 228 million yuan in the project. The  German
side has 60% stakes and the Chinese side has 40% stakes.
