Large Potash Chemical Industrial Base
               to Be Established in Sichuan
Chengdu Chemical Industrial Co., Ltd. and an  international
financial institution have invested 200  million  yuan  in
constructing a 20 000  t/a  high- purity  potash  project,
which will become another large potash chemical industrial
base in China. Chengdu Chemical Industrial Co., Ltd.   has
introduced both technology and equipment  of  high- purity
  potash   flake   from   Switzerland.     Continuous   wet
commissioning has proved that the unit fully tallies  with
  the  contract  requirements  and  the   product   quality
surpasses the indexes defined in the contract and  reaches
the world's advanced level. The first lot product of  more
than 400 tons produced in wet commissioning has been  sold
to Guangdong, Jilin and Chengdu. High-purity potash is  an
important inorganic chemical raw material extensively used
in light industry sectors,  pharmaceuticals,   ABS  resin,
fine chemicals and high-performance alkaline  cells.   The
product has to be fully imported at present.  The  project
will be completed and put into operation  by  the  end  of
December in 2000. The construction  of  the  large  potash
chemical industrial base can bring the history of  product
import to an end.
