450 000 T/A Ethylene Expansion Project in Qilu Ready for Trial Run
After the construction for one year and half, the 450 000 t/a  ethylene
expansion project, a major renovation project of the state during  the
Ninth Five-year Plan period, is at the finishing stage.   Preparations
for trial  run  are  now  in  full  swing  in  Olefin  Plant  of  Qilu
Petrochemical Corporation.
The project has a total investment of 1.117 billion yuan. The units  in
the new area will complete intermediate handing-over at the end of June,
and the units in  the  old  area  will  be  completed  and  start  wet
commissioning in October this year.
The 300 000 t/a ethylene unit in  Qilu  Petrochemical  Corporation  was
designed by Toyo Engineering of Japan using the technology from Lummus
of the United  States.   It  started  construction  in  1984  and  was
completed and put into operation in 1987. The expansion this time uses
the enlargement technology from Lummus of  the  United  States.   Toyo
Engineering of Japan undertakes the  basic  design  of  propylene  and
ethylene cooling systems and refrigeration stations.
