Asia's Biggest Enzymatic Preparations
                 Plant Put into Operation in Tianjin
The first phase of Novo Nordisk (China) Biotechnology  Co. ,   Ltd.   ,
Asia's biggest enzymatic preparations plant, is recently completed and
put into operation in Tianjin.
The company is set up by Novo Nordisk of Denmark. It occupies  an  area
of 160 000 m2 and has an investment of 240 million U.S. dollars.   The
products made by the company can not only meet  the  domestic  demand,
but also be supplied to other Asian countries. The whole project  will
be completed in 2000.
More than  20%  of  the  total  investment  is  used  in  environmental
protection. Biological waste water  will  be  processed  into  organic
fertilizer for agricultural application.
