              Continuous Slackness in the Polystyrene Market
According to the projection of experts, with passing of  the  brisk  season
for production of household electric appliances and cosmetics, the  demand
of polystyrene is still slack and the market price will not change much in
the near term.
  It is reported that polystyrene had short demand and soft market in  May.
Producers reduced their ex-factory price  and  the  market  price  dropped
accordingly. Factors for the price drop are as follows:
(1) The price reduction made by producers has accelerated the downslide of
the market price;
(2) The capital shortage  in  producers  and  downstream  enterprises  has
restricted the inventory;
(3) The poor economic performance of  downstream  enterprises  has  caused
their production suspension which has in turn  led  to  the  reduction  in
polystyrene demand.
