EDTA Unit Starts Production in Shijiazhuang

The largest EDTA (ethylene diamine tetraacetcic acid) production unit in China has recently been completed in Hebei Shijiazhuang Jieke Chemical Co., Ltd. and qualified product is produced. The unit has a capacity of 10 000 t/a, almost the total of the existing EDTA capacity in China today.     The unit uses the advanced sodium cyanide process to produce EDTA and has the features of great safety, low equipment investment, great production flexibility and high product yield. EDTA and its salts have a great market in water treatment, detergent, textile, papermaking, pharmaceutical, rubber processing and photographic sectors. China has 6 EDTA producers located in Jiangsu, Tianjin and Shandong Zibo with an annual output of 9 000 tons. There is a slight supply shortage in the market.
