Ethyl Benzene Technology Base on Catalytically Cracked Dry Gas100 000 t/a Ethyl Benzene Project in Daqing

The 100 000 t/a ethyl benzene project using the third-generation and the fourth-generation technologies for the ethyl benzene production based on catalytically cracked dry gas developed by CAS Dalian Institute of Chemistry and Physics and Research Institute of Fushun No. 2 Petroleum Plant started construction in Daqing Linyuan Refinery in mid August.      The project is constructed to match relevant units in Daqing Refining and Chemical Co., Ltd. and Daqing Petrochemical Company Ltd. in the production of styrene and downstream products. It is a sister project of the 80 000 t/a styrene unit in Jinzhou Petrochemical Company Ltd., another subsidiary of PetroChina in Northeast China.      CAS Dalian Institute of Chemistry and Physics and Fushun No. 2 Plant have jointly developed the third-generation and the fourth-generation technology for the ethyl benzene production. The two new molecular sieve catalysts they have developed have high low-temperature activity, great selectivity and long service life. Their use in fixed-bed and catalytic distillation reaction processes can greatly reduce reaction temperatures in reverse alkylation and alkylation and remarkably improve the product quality of ethyl benzene.     The 10 000 t/a ethyl benzene project in Daqing Linyuan Refinery has a total investment of RMB190 million and is expected to be completed and put on stream before Oct. 1, 2006. The sales revenue will reach RMB600 - 700 million and the profit and tax will be RMB100 million a year.
